Empowering Futures Scholarship enable children impacted by family violence and mental health to access positive after school programs such as music, sport, drama and art. We will fund activities up to a cost of $500. Applications are now open for our 2026 Round 1 scholarships. Applications close 12 January.
Eligibility:
- Age: Between 6 and 16 years old at the time of application.
- Vulnerability: Affected by family violence or mental health challenges, with the application supported by a community practitioner (e.g. social worker, counsellor, GP, teacher, or case manager). Please note, we do not require detailed evidence, or diagnosis of mental health conditions, just information regarding the impact on the child’s wellbeing.
- Location: Lives within or near a priority area (Brisbane South East and Moreton Bay).
- Child’s Interest: The child has shown a genuine desire or motivation to participate in the chosen activity.
- Access to Activity: The family can reasonably travel to and from the activity location.
Before you begin your application, make sure you have:
- Evidence of cost of your child’s activity, this could be an invoice for term fees, or a quote, or website details. Please note payment will be made directly to the provider in most instances.
- Your child’s birth certificate.
- Letter from community support person briefly describing how the child has been affected by family violence or mental health challenges and how this activity may support their wellbeing.
